NFL Playoff Discussion: Who books their tickets to the Super Bowl?

Is another instant classic coming in the NFC title game between the Rams and Seahawks?

It’s time to decide who will go to the Bay Area for Super Bowl LX. Today is the day of the NFL’s Conference Championship Games, as the final four teams still standing in the playoffs compete to be one of the two that will advance to the Super Bowl, to be held two weeks from today at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Interestingly, that stadium — the home of the San Francisco 49ers — will host one of its home team’s divisional rivals in two weeks. The NFC title game, which will be the late game on today’s schedule, is an NFC West matchup between the top-seeded Seattle Seahawks and the #5 Los Angeles Rams. That game will be the third of the football season between these two teams and it should be a fantastic game.

After all, each of the two regular season games between the Rams and Seahawks were tremendous as well. The teams split the season series, with each team winning at home. The Rams got the upper hand in week 11 with a 21-19 victory, getting four interceptions from Sam Darnold and holding Seattle to a 61-yard field goal attempt at the end of regulation (which fell short). Then in week 16, the Seahawks rallied from a 30-14 fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime; there, after a Rams touchdown and PAT, Seattle drove for a touchdown and a game-winning two-point conversion to clinch a one-point victory.

With these two teams sitting as the two best teams in the NFL by DVOA, expect them to deliver a thrilling contest in the late game. The early contest, however, could be more one-sided, particularly depending on the performance of a backup quarterback. That game finds the AFC’s top seed, the Denver Broncos, forced to start Jarrett Stidham thanks to Bo Nix suffering a broken bone in his ankle late in last week’s overtime win over the Buffalo Bills.

That injury gives the New England Patriots, the AFC’s #2 seed, a perceived edge, with MVP candidate Drake Maye under center. Tune in early for that game, stick around for the great NFC matchup, and discuss it all in the comments!
