Plymouth Argyle boss Tom Cleverley has described Brendan Galloway as "an absolute warrior" after his third goal in four games.

The Pilgrims defender, 29, has been in fine form since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations with Zimbabwe.

His goal in first-half stoppage time was the crucial moment as Argyle beat Luton Town 1-0 in League One to continue their good run.

The Pilgrims, who were bottom of the division in November, have won their past four matches in all competitions and are unbeaten in their past six.

"Brendan's an absolute warrior," Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.

"He's a fantastic servant for this club, fantastic role model for our younger players, hugely respected by everyone.

"Goals are not his first priority - the clean sheet will probably please Brendan more - but we're a dangerous set-piece team at the minute.

"It's the details, the aggression, the timing, it's not just luck, [it's] well worked on with [coach] Matt Bevans and the guys - but Brendan seems to be getting on the end of a lot of them."

Galloway is having one of his most consistent seasons since moving to Home Park in the summer of 2021.

The former Everton and Luton Town player has previously suffered serious injuries which caused him to miss big chunks of the 2021-22 and 2024-25 campaigns.

But with 24 appearances already this term, he is on course for his busiest-ever season as an Argyle player.

"I think sometimes it's luck, sometimes you start to learn your body more," Cleverley said of the defender's change in fitness fortunes.

"He understands what he does and doesn't need, and he looks after himself in the gym and with the physios.

"We've not had to manage him too much, he's not someone who could play three games in six days over Christmas, but he's well into the 20s in appearances this year.

"He's performed at a really high level and I'm super pleased with him."
