Franklin's Ben Brown wins Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week

With just over 60.2% of last week's vote, Franklin senior Ben Brown is the Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week.

Muskego Ice Force co-op's Ben Brown was the winner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week poll from Jan. 19 to Jan. 24.

The senior from Franklin had a monster week for the Ice Force with five goals and eight total points in two games, including five goals and a pair of assists in a 9-5 victory over back-to-back state qualifier Brookfield Stars co-op Jan. 15 that extended his point streak to five games.

Brown received 13,632 of 22,630 total votes cast.

Nicolet guard Rashaad Davis was runner-up in last week's poll. The senior became the all-time career scorer in program history, reaching 1,460 career points. He surpassed Steve Bazelon from Nicolet's class of 1969 (1,405 career points).

Other nominees included Lauren Hilbelink of Menomonee Falls/Germantown gymnastics, Natalie Kussow of Arrowhead girls basketball and Rowan Counsell of Whitefish Bay girls basketball.
