In a very recent media appearance, Harry Kane justified his playing style.
Speaking to The Times, Harry Kane explained the reasoning behind his approach on the pitch. The Englishman revealed why he often drops deep. "When a team likes to press, I enjoy dropping back, sometimes even into the defensive zone, to see if the center-back is fully committed to tracking me all the way. It takes a lot of effort for teams to really commit. That's why you sometimes see me in the number 6 or 8 positions," he explained.
"When I drop back and play out wide, arriving a bit late in the box or finding space between the lines really frees me up. Sometimes, as a number 9, when you're being tightly marked by the center-backs, it's tough to get away from them, whereas arriving a little later forces them to make runs in behind. I try to use my football intelligence to spot spaces and exploit them," added the England captain.
