The Denver Broncos are championship contenders now and we should expect some fun times when free agency opens up.
The Monday after a playoff loss stinks. It always does. That said, we still need to move on. And frankly, I haven’t been this optimistic about heading into an offseason since the Peyton Manning era. In fact, I would say this offseason is likely the most important offseason since 2014.
Luca Evans of the Denver Post shared a few quotes from Garett Bolles today that highlighted an important fact that was as true in 2014 as it may be today: free agents want to come play for Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.
He began with the emotional pain of losing a close, hard fought contest, but leaned into the future. An incredibly bright future for the Denver Broncos.
“I know exactly where this team is going. I know the future that we have. I know the players that we have in this building. We have phenomenal owners that I’m so grateful that they’re a part of us – they chose the Denver Broncos to buy and to provide. They’re building an unbelievable training facility right on the side of this building. Which is amazing to even train, and to get more stuff in there to make us better.
“People want to come to Denver. I mean, I’ll be shocked to see how many free agents want to come here. We got a young team. We got a quarterback. We got the best O-line in football – I don’t care what anyone says. … When you have a dominant O-line and a dominant defensive line, people want to come here. When you have a phenomenal quarterback in Bo, people don’t give him credit, what he had – the season he had was phenomenal.”
That was the important part. He’s right on all points. They are just a few players away from following up a 14-win season with another 14-win season. And they won’t need a dozen one-score games to get there next time.
We’ve got some great free agency coverage coming, but one user in our feed section is already on top of the details. He’s got all of the Broncos pending unrestricted free agents and cap screenshots. Good starting point there. In free agency, I feel like the Broncos really need to address these position groups: running back, tight end, wide receiver, and linebacker.
If they miss out on the top talent there, then shift that focus to the 2026 NFL Draft. Frankly, the offense is where most of the help is needed. They just couldn’t generate enough consistency from the wide receiver position or the running back position once J.K. Dobbins went down. Those two have to be the biggest points of emphasis in 2026.
What do you think of Bolles’ comments here today?
