Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Chris Taylor revealed he still wants to play in MLB after the Dodgers released him in 2025.
Former Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor revealed he plans to remain in MLB on Dodger Talk with David Vassegh on Friday.
The Dodgers released Taylor in May 2025, and he spent the remainder of his season with the Los Angeles Angels.
“Oh no, I’m still playing,” Taylor said. “Don’t pull the cord on me yet, Vassegh. No, I’m still playing. I’m down here in Arizona working out. Um, you know, I… I don’t know where it’s going to be yet, obviously with free agency being the way it is, but, um, I will be playing again this coming season.”
He also elaborated on his mindset as spring training nears.
“I really just—right now I’m just focused on getting myself right,” Taylor said. “Being ready to show up in spring training and be playing like my best, the way I know I’m capable of playing. Um, trying to get the body right, make sure I’m healthy and able to stay on the field.”
Taylor struggled with injury after leaving the Dodgers last season, fracturing his hand after being hit by a pitch in his 10th game with the Angels. He returned a couple of months later, but re-aggravated the injury on a diving play against the Seattle Mariners. He finished the year having played 30 games for the Angels, posting a .599 OPS.
When Did Chris Taylor Play For the Dodgers?
The Dodgers acquired Taylor via trade from the Seattle Mariners in the middle of the 2016 season, and held onto him until his release last year.
Through his 10 years of service with the Dodgers, Taylor slashed .250/.330/.431 with 108 home runs and 423 runs batted in. He made a single All-Star appearance with the Dodgers in 2021, when he hit 20 home runs and recorded a career-high 73 RBIs.
Taylor, 35, clearly has some fight left in him, and will aim to make a return for his 13th MLB season in 2026.
“I think I still have more to prove to myself and that’s the biggest thing,” he said. “And, um, yeah, I would not be able to hang it up right now and not have some regret.”
