TOPEKA (KSNT)- The Chargers hoisted the trophy.
The Topeka West boys basketball team beat in-city rivals Topeka High 71-57 on Monday to claim the Topeka Invitational Tournament Championship at Highland Park High School.
Prince Lassiter was named tournament MVP after a strong performance through three games.
“It’s a great feeling to be named MVP,” Lassiter told 27 Sports. “We stay composed throughout the game, especially with early foul trouble. We stay composed, played basketball, and had fun with the game.”
The Chargers closed the game on a 14-2 run.
“We know we’re a second-half team,” Keimani Paul said. “We knew how this was going to go, and we just tried to keep our composure and not let anything get under our skin.”
