Nottingham Forest have approached Wolverhampton Wanderers over a potential deal for goalkeeper Jose Sa, according to Express & Star.

The Tricky Trees are exploring the conditions of a transfer, with initial contact understood to centre on Wolves’ valuation and the structure of any agreement rather than a formal bid at this stage.

Given Sa’s contract runs till 2027, Wolves are in no rush to part ways with the 33-year-old, who has reclaimed his place in the starting XI of late after playing second fiddle to Sam Johnstone earlier in the season.

For Forest, the interest in Sa reflects a push to secure a proven, top-flight No. 1 for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

Forest have monitored the Portuguese international across multiple windows, with owner Evangelos Marinakis long familiar with the player from their shared Olympiacos connection.

While contact has now been established, there remains significant work before any agreement can be reached, with Wolves expected to test Forest’s resolve financially if they are to sanction a sale.

With the window ticking down, both clubs face a delicate balance between sporting needs and market opportunity.

In addition to Sa, Forest are also aiming to bring in another striker this winter, despite already signing Lorenzo Lucca on loan from Napoli.

Sean Dyche’s side are keen admirers of Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, but will need to fend off competition from Serie A duo AC Milan and Juventus; the latter could revisit a deal for the Frenchman after their move for Youssef En-Nesyri collapsed.
