Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt game thread and pregame reading

The Wildcats and the Commodores square off in a Music City showdown.

The Kentucky Wildcats are set to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville for a Tuesday night SEC affair. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 PM ET on ESPN. You can stream the game online through WatchESPN.

Despite snowy and icy conditions throughout the region, tonight’s game will take place in the Music City as both teams look for a key SEC victory. With Kentucky at 5-2 and Vanderbilt at 4-3 in league play, this is a game both squads need in order to stay in the hunt for an SEC regular-season crown.

This is the first of two major road tests for the Cats this week. After tonight’s clash with the 18th-ranked Commodores, Kentucky will venture into Fayetteville for a Saturday night showdown with the 15th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks.

While the Wildcats are hoping to make a run at another SEC championship, the real importance is winning enough games over the next five weeks to stay off the NCAA Tournament bubble. They likely need to win at least five more games to stay off the bubble. While that may sound easy, Kentucky has arguably the hardest remaining strength of schedule in college basketball, so nothing can be taken for granted, especially as this team navigates the SEC gauntlet without the likes of Jaland Lowe, Kam Williams, and Jayden Quaintance.

One late injury for tonight: Vanderbilt starting guard Duke Miles has been ruled OUT after initially being listed as questionable to play.
