FC Bayern and Leon Goretzka could be headed for a divorce.
Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany answered a lot of questions about his team ahead of its Champions League showdown with PSV Eindhoven, but much to his chagrin, the topic of the transfer rumors surrounding Leon Goretzka came up.
Goretzka, of course, has been closely linked to a move to Atlético Madrid, with some reports indicating that the LaLiga power would like to bring in the Germany international during the winter transfer window.
For Kompany, providing a “non-answer” was probably the best way to handle a situation that is in flux.
“These decisions are not only made by the coach. In every individual situation, there are talks with Max (Eberl), Christoph (Freund), and also the higher-ups. In the past 48 hours, I’ve only spoken about PSV — and not about players joining or leaving. So l can’t really help you with this information,” Kompany remarked (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It seems doubtful that Goretzka will leave the club before the end of the season, but anything could be on the table for the Bavarians at this point.
Goretzka will be a free agent in the summer.
