SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Central High School celebrated a sweep over its longtime rival Wednesday night.

The Central Bobcats and Lady Cats hosted longtime rival Odessa Permian for some midweek district play. The Lady Cats took the court first, looking for their second consecutive district win after narrowly holding off Midland in its last contest, 38-37. Head coach An’Jolique Woodson’s squad also looked to avenge its 42-37 loss at Permian on Jan 9. Wednesday proved to be a great night for the home fans, as the Lady Cats walked away with a 42-30 win to improve to 3-3 in district play.

On the Bobcats’ side, things started slowly. Physicality was present from the get-go between these foes, as the Panthers led 19-11 after the first quarter. Central, however, had answers. The Bobcats wound up with a 74-67 win, improving their district record to 3-1 with additional wins over Frenship and Midland. Head coach Arsenio Geter’s squad has also won six of its last seven games overall.

Both Central squads return to the court on Friday, set to face Odessa on the road.
