Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka to make transfer decision in coming hours as Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid wait

Is FC Bayern open toa deal for Leon Goretzka?

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has been closely linked to Atlético Madrid over the past few days and Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg says the pursuit is serious as there is interest on both sides.

How serious, you ask?

Well, serious enough that new talks occurred on Wednesday and that the decision to get this deal over the line could be made in the coming hours:

🚨🧨 EXCLUSIVE | Atlético want to sign Leon #Goretzka immediately as a top replacement for Conor Gallagher.

Goretzka is a dream target for Simeone/Alemany. There were already direct talks between Atlético/Goretzka.

The Atlético project appeals to Goretzka. Choices: either a swift move to Madrid or staying to complete the season with FC Bayern. New talks took place today.

However, the decision might already be made for Goretzka to stay as Fabrizio Romano (via @iMiaSanMia) is reporting that Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany does not want to lose Goretzka right now:

Atlético Madrid have genuine interest in Leon Goretzka, he’s a target. But my understanding is that Bayern manager Vincent Kompany doesn’t want to lose any player in January. So we have to see if Atlético will convince Bayern to let Goretzka leave now, or if he will leave as a free agent in the summer. Atlético have a good relationship with Goretzka’s agents and are trying.

Finally, Marca journalist Matteo Morretto (via @iMiaSanMia) added that Tottenham Hotspur is eyeing Goretzka as well:

In addition to Atlético Madrid, Tottenham have also inquired about Leon Goretzka in the past few hours. It’s still unclear whether Bayern will let him go right now. A decision is expected in the coming hours.

It still might be unlikely that Goretzka leaves in the next hours or days, but it seems like there is — at least — a slim possibility it happens.
