Midfielder Boubakary Soumare has left Leicester City for an undisclosed fee to join Qatari side Al-Duhail.

The 26-year-old, who moved to the King Power Stadium for £17m from French club Lille in the summer of 2021, was part of both of the Foxes' Premier League relegations in recent years.

After the first relegation in 2023, he left the East Midlands club for a loan spell in Spain with Seville in the season that Leicester won promotion back to the top flight as Championship title winners.

But, after their immediate return to the second tier, Soumare remained with the club for the first six months of the current campaign.

He has featured 17 times in all competitions this term, with his last appearance coming in the 2-1 defeat by Oxford United that led to the sacking of manager Marti Cifuentes.

Soumare started his time with Leicester by helping them beat Manchester City to win the Charity Shield, and now leaves with six months left of his contract when the club needs to raise funds if winter transfer additions are to be made.
