FC Bayern still has Leon Goretzka…for now.
Barca out on Goretzka (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Despite previous reports, FC Barcelona is not interested in Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka per Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Barcelona are interested in bringing Leon Goretzka to La Liga. Sometimes, it’s easy – one plus one equals two; but in this case, it equals three! Yes, Hansi Flick knows the player from his Bayern days. They won the Champions League together. Goretzka’s going to be a free agent, so it would be possible to bring him to Barcelona. And we know that money still remains a big problem at Barcelona!
There were rumours going around that Leon Goretzka had already called Flick to ask his old boss to bring him to Barcelona. However, nothing is true. The German international isn’t a good fit for the club’s playing style. They’ve got a lot of offensive players in this position.
Tottenham are still on the table. And then there are many Italian clubs, like Juventus and AC Milan, who are interested. So, I think he will end up at a good club. Goretzka will leave Bayern Munich in the summer, as the bosses gave a signal that they won’t extend his contract. But it won’t be Barcelona.
In an interview with Die Zeit, Goretzka confirmed that he did not reach out to Flick in an attempt to kickstart a move.
ICYMI: Werner officially makes San Jose move (ESPN)
It is not official — Timo Werner has made the move from RB Leipzig to the San Jose Earthquakes in MLS.
“It’s always a big decision to go to America, but everything is there to be successful,” Werner said in a statement. “The stadium and the facilities are beautiful. Also, it really impressed me that an experienced manager like Bruce [Arena], who has had so much success in the league, flew over here to Germany to talk to me about the plan.
“The Earthquakes fans can expect to get a player who gives everything on the pitch, every game. Every club I’ve joined, I’ve wanted to win a trophy. In the end, I’ve always delivered. That’s why I want to come to San Jose — to win.”
San Jose coach Bruce Arena is happy to bring in Werner.
“We feel he’s going to be a great addition to the team as well as the league,” Arena said. “I think he’s a player that still has a lot of good years ahead of him. He’s got great experience. He’s a technically good player and we hope he comes here and embraces it and becomes a leader of our team.”

Saudis to make massive push for Dembélé (ESPN)
Paris Saint-Germain attacker and Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé could be headed to Saudi Arabia after the season for a mega-contract:
Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé is on the radar of the Saudi Pro League. Sky Sports reports that league officials are “laying the groundwork” for a move to sign the 28-year-old in the summer, having already made an enquiry for him. Dembele, who holds both the men’s Ballon d’Or and FIFA the Best awards, has 2½ years left on his contract at the Parc des Princes, but talks over an extension have stalled as club president Nasser Al Khelaifi made clear that he would not break PSG’s wage structure. As you would expect, Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly prepared to offer significant salary amid hopes of tempting him away from the Parc des Princes. It is said that Dembele’s representatives have indicated that he is focusing on this season, but there could be a possibility of a transfer to Saudi Arabia.
Perišić could stay at PSV (Fabrizio Romano)
There were rumors that Inter Milan is making a hard run at former Bayern Munich star Ivan Perišić, but it looks like the Croatian is staying with PSV Eindhoven:
When it comes to Perišić, I always think of this post featuring a quote from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and it reminds me that even the brightest guys can have bad takes. Sure, Leroy Sané was more interesting than Perišić. Flashier? Sure. A better talent? Probably.
But was he a better fit at Bayern Munich? More effective? Eh, I don’t know about those at all.
LFC, Real to make move for former Bayern academy star? (ESPN)
Former Bayern Munich academy star and current Juventus attacker Kenan Yildiz is quickly becoming one of the most sought after talents in all of Europe. Both Liverpool and Real Madrid are now keeping a close eye on Yildiz:
