Liam Rosenior has revealed his limited involvement in Chelsea’s transfer business means he only sees the “last two percent” of work carried out by the sporting directors.

The 41-year-old was announced as Chelsea’s new head coach at the start of January, and signed a six and a half year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior has overseen a good start to life in west London, and has won five of his first six games in charge of the Blues.

Liam Rosenior admits limited involvement in Chelsea transfers

Chelsea are one of a number of clubs who employ a head coach rather than a manager, with sporting directors leading the recruitment side of things.

The Blues could be set for a busy end to the window with the club still pushing to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, whilst they are trying to offload Tyrique George and Axel Disasi.

Rosenior is preparing for a London derby against West Ham on Saturday evening, and was asked about how involved he would be in the final few days of the window.

“That’s the beauty of being a head coach within a structure. I’m not an old-school manager that’s got out the phone and is making calls,” he said as quoted by The Standard.

“I’ve got the best people, I think, in world football working on those things.

“I probably see the last two per cent of the work they do, which allows me to focus on what I need to focus on: the team and the performance.”

Levi Colwill could return before the end of the season

In other news, Rosenior revealed Levi Colwill is back running on the grass as he continues to recover from an ACL injury suffered before the start of the season.

There’s been no time frame put on his return, but it’s possible he could be back in action before the end of the season.

Chelsea have badly missed Colwill, and have struggled with their build up play from the back in his absence, and are looking to fill the void with the potential signing of Jacquet.
