Liam Rosenior has backed Levi Colwill to return early from his injury in a positive update to the defender’s status in his press conference today.
Rosenior backs Colwill to return before the end of the season
Liam Rosenior speaks in the press conference ahead of West Ham.
“Yes he could [be back before the end of the season] but it’s step by step and I don’t want to make promises that I can’t keep,” Rosenior said, not realising he had just made a rod for his own back by saying it was even a possibility.
“At the moment, Levi’s in a really good place. He’s on the right track but I don’t want to put pressure on him. I spoke to Levi this morning. He’s working so hard and what a professional he is. It’s been brilliant to see him back on the pitch running. He’s itching to get back but we need to make sure he feels 100 per cent perfect.
“He’s another outstanding player I can’t wait to work with and he’s in a really good place. I don’t like putting timeframes on injuries because it puts unnecessary pressure on players when their health is the most important thing.”
There is no rush to get Levi back early. The only appeal of seeing him before the end of the season is that it shows things have progressed well, from a competitive point of view he shouldn’t even be considered.
In other news…
Chelsea have got themselves into a sticky situation with two of their loan defenders. One they brought back, one they want to bring back. But it’s not going as they planned. It looks like more amateur hour stuff from the sporting directors so far.
Yaya Toure is not one of the pundits we usually get speaking about Chelsea players, but he’s come out with some hot takes this week about Liam Rosenior. The former midfielder is a huge fan – you can read this thoughts in the post here.
