The Badgers will be down a starter on Saturday.
Fresh off a 67-63 win over the Minnesota Gophers, the Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Kohl Center on Saturday, with tip-off slated for 1:00 p.m. on FOX.
The Badgers had another comeback victory on Wednesday after struggling through the first half. They fell behind 35-17 with one of their worst offensive halves of the year, shooting just 5 of 28 from the field in the period.
But a good defensive start to the second half propelled the comeback and the Badgers found their way to a victory over an undermanned Minnesota squad that was without leading scorer Cade Tyson.
Now, the Badgers put their focus towards an Ohio State team that has gone 14-6 this season, including 6-4 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes haven’t gotten many wins against top competition (only one Quad 1 win), but they’ve still gotten out to a nice season.
Bruce Thornton has led the way once again as a senior, averaging 19.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on incredible efficiency (55.4 percent from the field, 40.4 percent from three). Sophomore John Mobley Jr. has also taken a step forward, averaging 16.1 points per game while hitting nearly 42 percent of his threes.
Junior Devin Royal has been a steady presence again, averaging 13.9 points and 5.7 rebounds a game, while shooting the ball well for the Buckeyes.
Wisconsin will be shorthanded on Saturday as guard Andrew Rohde is out with an injury. In his place, Jack Janicki will make his first career start.
