Chelsea were “very annoyed’ about Borussia Dortmund’s public comments about Aaron Anselmino according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues signed Anselmino from Boca Juniors in the summer of 2024, and he made his debut at last summer’s Club World Cup.

Chelsea took the decision to send the 20-year-old on loan to Dortmund for the season to continue his development and get used to European football.

Chelsea annoyed at Borussia Dortmund Aaron Anselmino comments

The youngster put in some impressive performances in Germany, but injuries limited him to just ten appearances over the first half of the season.

Dortmund expressed an interest in signing him on a permanent basis, but the Blues opted to recall the Argentine last month.

Chelsea were believed to be unhappy with Dortmund’s comments about Anselmino.

The German club are understood to be upset with Chelsea over the decision, and Romano has now explained why the Blues did it.

“Chelsea were very annoyed with Borussia Dortmund’s comments in public about Anselmino in the recent weeks and months, talking about their intention to buy him on a permanent transfer,” he told his YouTube channel.

“Chelsea always considered Anselmino as part of their project for the long term, and so they were not happy with those comments, and this is why they decided to recall Anselmino.”

Argentine youngster to join Strasbourg on loan

Having been recalled Anselmino is now set to join Strasbourg on loan for the remainder of the season, with Mamadou Sarr likely to return to Chelsea.

It was reported initially Anselmino wasn’t keen on the switch to France, but there’s seemingly been a change of heart, and he will continue his development in Ligue 1.
