Sonia Bompastor says she will leave Chelsea if those at the club no longer feels she is the right person for the job, but vowed she will not give up after her side were hammered by Manchester City.
The Blues are now 12 points behind league leaders City after their heavy 5-1 defeat and speaking after the game, Bompastor said: “If people in the club think I’m not the right person for this job, I’ll be happy to go if they think that’s the right thing.
“But I will never give up. I know in football sometimes this happens, you can be in this situation.
“I will always fight and the institution of Chelsea is a lot more important than myself.
“I think you can see the squad is not the same as last season.
“I think a lot of people talk about Chelsea as an example of having depth in the squad, having a lot of different profiles that can have a big impact when they come into the game.
“I think right now, we are not in that place. I’m not saying it will explain everything but probably also being in that position doesn’t help.
“And of course as manager, I will assume the result of my team so I need to also focus on what are the solutions I need to bring to this team in order for us to be in a lot better place.”

Chelsea’s injury worries have also worsened, with Lucy Bronze absent from the squad with a shin problem while the returning Aggie Beever-Jones reaggravating her previous ankle injury.
“Lucy was not available because she felt pain in her shin again,” Bompastor explained. “We felt it was the right decision for her not to travel and to rest for this game. We’ll assess her again and see how it goes.”
On Beever-Jones, Bompastor said: “She’s coming back from the ankle injury and I think she twisted it, a little bit, that same ankle and it’s probably quite painful for her.
“Because we made all the substitutions, she couldn’t come off. I’m hoping for her to be okay because we need to have players. We have a lot of injuries and it doesn’t help when you lose players.”
