For the first time all season, Indiana women’s basketball has an entry in the wins column for Big Ten play. The Hoosiers knocked off Northwestern x-x at home on Sunday afternoon after building a dominant 30-3 lead in the first quarter.

The Hoosiers lost nine consecutive game heading into Sunday’s game against the Wildcats, including their first loss to rival Purdue since 2019. The win over Northwestern moves Indiana to 12-11 overall and 1-1o in the conference.

Shay Ciezki lead Indiana in scoring with a strong 33 point showing on 11-18 shooting from the field, including 5-9 from 3-point range. She was followed by Lenee Beaumont, who added 24 points on 11-14 shooting. Ciezki was also the Hoosiers’ most productive passer, dishing out five assists.

Northwestern made a furious comeback effort behind 35 points from Grace Sullivan as the Wildcats outscored Indiana in the second half, but that first quarter deficit was too steep to overcome.

Indiana returns to action on Wednesday, taking on Wisconsin on the road.
