The new signing is described as a ‘complete striker’
Barcelona have been told what they can expect from new signing Hamza Abdelkarim after signing the youngster on loan from Al-Ahly.
The teenager will join up with Barca Atletic for the rest of the season, and his deal does include a buy option.
Alaa Abdou, who has coached Abdelkarim in Al-Ahly youth’s system, has now offered some insight into Barca’s new signing and compared him to Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland.
“I’ve known him since he was 14 and have closely followed his development. Over the last three years, his game has become increasingly similar to Haaland’s,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“He’s a mix of strength, speed, and intelligent finishing. He’s a complete striker: good in the air, positions himself well in the box, and is capable of scoring from a half-chance.”
Abdou also says that the youngster is quick learner and reveals what he used to work on with the striker.
“He learns quickly and always wants to improve. We spent hours practicing his finishing, his positioning off the ball, and his decision-making under pressure. We paid special attention to his understanding of the game. He’s intelligent; you give him an instruction once, and he’s already learned it,” he said.
“We worked on how to move and receive the ball between the lines, how to make runs behind the defense, and ensuring his movements were correct. He reads the game well and works well with his teammates.
“Physically, he is fast and strong, which allows him to be aggressive in pressing and decisive in transitions.”
Abdelkarim has already admitted he’s eyeing a first-team spot at Barcelona and is eager to make an impact at the club after making the switch this winter.
