Sky Germany reports that Wolfsburg’s move for Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika has fallen through.

The Autostadt side had been pursuing the Nigerian midfielder for several weeks, as they looked to improve their midfield options.

However, Onyedika has now decided to stay in Belgium for the rest of the season, with his contract in Brugge expiring in 2027. Eintracht Frankfurt have also held an interest in the Nigerian, and considering their current defensive situation, they would be better suited to pursue the 24-year-old.

Wolfsburg’s nightmare January:

This is Wolfsburg’s third move that has failed to materialise in this window. They tried to boost their defensive options with the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeanuel Belocian on loan as well as attempting to sign Genk centre-back Matte Smets for €16m, but the Belgian side rejected the offer.

While on the pitch, Daniel Bauer’s side are well in contention when it comes to the fight to avoid relegation, as they sit only one point above the bottom three.
