The Pittsburgh Steelers’ coaching staff is nearly complete, and you can keep up with all of the new additions with our assistant coach tracker. After hiring Patrick Graham as defensive coordinator and reportedly getting set to hire Scott Tolzien as offensive coordinator, the Steelers now have a new special teams coordinator.

Per Tom Pelissero, the Steelers are hiring Danny Crossman.

“The Steelers are expected to hire Danny Crossman as their special teams coordinator, per source,” Pelissero reports. “Crossman, 59, has over two decades of NFL experience, most recently with the Dolphins. A key hire for Mike McCarthy.”

The Steelers had also shown interest in former Buffalo Bills special teams coordinator Matthew Smiley, but opt to go with Crossman instead.

Crossman’s coaching career began back in 1993 when he coached defensive backs and special teams at the Coast Guard Academy. He’s held several different special teams coach roles across the NFL since 2003.
