After five events, a growing list of former and active UFC fighters have already stepped onto their mats.
Lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan is one of the more recognisable names on that list. He impressed in his debut earlier this year on the undercard of Colby Covington’s win over Luke Rockhold in January.
Tsarukyan will be back for RAF 6, this time featuring before a main event that showcases two more familiar UFC names.
RAF 6 line-up includes Henry Cejudo, Arman Tsarukyan, Clay Guida, Muhammad Mokaev and more
The sixth Real American Freestyle event is set for February 28 at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona.
Headlining the card will be Henry Cejudo against Urijah Faber in a lightweight contest. Cejudo stepped away from MMA last December, while Faber has put together a three-match winning streak across submission grappling and combat jiu-jitsu.
‘The California Kid’ will not be the only UFC Hall of Famer featured at RAF 6. Before that bout and Tsarukyan’s co-main event against Georgio Poullas, Clay Guida will make his second appearance with the promotion.
Guida lost to Cayden Henschel by tech fall at RAF 3 last November. He will be looking for his first win under the banner when he faces Keelon Jimison.
Other notable names on the card include former UFC champion Benson Henderson, ex-flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev and three-time title challenger Chad Mendes.
Arman Tsarukyan eyes featherweight move after being overlooked for UFC title shot
While ‘Ahalkalakets’ remains active on the grappling circuit, his future in the UFC is less clear.
Tsarukyan found himself left out of the title picture after Justin Gaethje vs. Paddy Pimblett was booked for the interim belt at UFC 324. In response, he has stayed busy away from the Octagon, most recently competing at Real American Freestyle events.
Despite being sidelined in the title race, Tsarukyan has not given up on his ambitions and is now considering a move down to featherweight.
“I’m not getting Gaethje, I’m not getting anybody,” the 29-year-old said on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“I’m going to try to get the title at 145 (pounds)… I talked to coach Cal, we did the math and everything, so my body can go to 145. He’s saying it’s not easy, but we can make it happen.
“If we know two to three weeks before that we’re fighting at 145, we can make it happen. Because I walk around not big, 177-175. If I start eating clean and do more cardio, I’m gonna be 165-166. And then from there I can go down,” he concluded.
