Kompany has clear expectations.
Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich have been utterly superb this season. Despite some concerns about the squad heading into the season and a slight dip during January, the current season record (at the time of writing) reads 27 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses for a win percentage of 84% this season. Not bad for a relegated Burnley coach, eh?
Still, it begs the question: What exactly does Kompany do when the team loses or drops points? And how does he keep the streak up? Does he simply ratchet expectations through the roof? Asked if he was difficult to please by Bayern magazine Säbener51, Kompany’s answer was fairly simple:
“Not at all. If a team works hard, it can hardly disappoint me – and this team has always worked hard, even after defeats,” he said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
Establishing clear expectations and staying true to them even in trying times is a difficult but excellent practice to pull off. Certainly, the team must appreciate the clear communication of the coach.
