The Tottenham U21 midfielder is excited to get another shot at League One after an injury-hit spell at Wycombe.
Tottenham midfielder George Abbott says he is excited to get another shot at League One with Mansfield Town after his stay with Wycombe Wanderers was cut short by injury earlier in the season.
Abbott, 20, returns to Nottinghamshire for a spell with the Stags following a successful period in League Two with Notts County in 2025, during which he scored the English Football League goal of the season.
In an interview with BBC Radio Nottingham, Tottenham's former Under-21 captain described the East Midlands as "a nice place to come back to" as he again tries to step up a division.
"I'm excited for it," he said. "I had an injury prior, so I just wanted to get back on to the pitch.
"When Mansfield came in for me, I thought it was a no-brainer."
Abbott has fond memories of his time with Stags' near neighbours Notts, marking his time there as "a good introduction to men's football" after coming through the youth-team ranks at Tottenham.
"Now coming to Mansfield in League One, and Wycombe earlier this season, I just keep stepping up and building up till hopefully I can play higher up, it's a really good stepping stone," said Abbott.

Abbott joins Tottenham Under-21 teammate Oliver Irow on loan at the Stags, who has already proved popular with Mansfield fans after scoring an impressive brace on his senior debut against Port Vale in January.
The second of Irow's goals, an excellent strike into the top right corner, has already been discussed as a strong contender for goal of the season.
Abbott spoke fondly of his Spurs teammate and his early success with the Stags, yet also alluded to some playful competition between the pair and his own belief in his ability to score goals equal to Irow's debut goal.
"When I first saw him (Irow) come here at the start of the window, I was really pleased for him," he said.
"As it became more and more likely that I was coming [here] I was really looking forward to it - just for the fact he was here as well and I could settle in a lot quicker.
"Hopefully I can get back there where I am scoring those types of goals.
"For him it was an incredible start and to score two goals on his debut like that and one of them being that good, it was quite special for him.
"Hopefully I can score a similar goal to that."
