Ohio State's Kary Hollenbaugh returning to Augusta National amateur

Ohio State senior Kary Hollenbaugh is set to return to the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur in April after a strong performance last year.

Ohio State senior golfer Kary Hollenbaugh will return to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April, the Augusta National Golf Club announced Feb. 4.

Hollenbaugh, a New Albany graduate who is 15th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, has six college or amateur tournament wins, five of which have come in the past year. She finished second in The Sally (275) in early January in Ormond Beach, Florida, one spot and two shots ahead of New Albany senior and Duke signee Mia Hammond.

Hollenbaugh, who won The Sally last year, tied for 22nd place (even-par 216) in last year’s ANWA, her debut in the event.

Kary Hollenbaugh, a New Albany graduate, became the Ohio State women's team's top golfer as a junior and is currently the 15th-ranked amateur worldwide, according to the Women's Amateur Golf Rankings.

This year’s tournament takes place from April 1-4, a week before The Masters.

Hollenbaugh made her LPGA debut at last year’s U.S. Women’s Open, finishing 112th with rounds of 76 and 75 and missing the cut.

She won four events at OSU as a junior, tying the program record for wins in a single season, and her average of 71.15 per 18 holes included 13 rounds in the 60s and a second-place finish in the Big Ten tournament.

Ohio State women's golfer Kary Hollenbaugh warms up on the range during the second round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur at Champions Retreat Golf Club in April 2025.

So far this winter, Hollenbaugh is averaging 74 in nine rounds with a low round of 71.

In its seventh year, the ANWA field includes the top 20 players in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and 48 of the top 50 overall. Players represent 23 countries and six continents.

The final round will air April 4 from Augusta National, the home of The Masters, on NBC, locally NBC 4/WCMH-TV.
