The Brewster Academy National [Wolfeboro, NH] Bobcats flirted with disaster for the second time in the past week against an unranked opponent from New England.

Ranked No. 3 in the latest edition of The Sporting News High School Boys Basketball Top 25, Brewster Academy National has had two games go to the wire since last Wednesday when they held on for a 71-70 win over the New Hampton [NH] School Huskies. Tuesday night, it was the Vermont Academy [Saxtons River, VT] Wildcats making a bid for an upset with the Bobcats eventually escaping with a 76-74 win.

Brewster Academy National is considered one of the frontrunners to win the title of The Sporting News High School Boys Basketball National Champions, but the close calls against unheralded regional opponents suddenly has the Bobcats in the glare of the national spotlight. It will only become brighter on Friday night when they are scheduled to face the No. 11 Wasatch Academy [Mt. Pleasant, UT] Tigers who are conversely playing their best basketball of the season.

That game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at Long Island Lutheran's LuHi Invitational in Brookville, New York, where the Bobcats will also take on the host Crusaders at 5 p.m. Saturday.
