The opening injury report of Super Bowl LX week.
As the New England Patriots headed out to practice at Stanford University, so did Harold Landry III.
The starting outside linebacker returned for Wednesday’s work on the Seattle Seahawks in a limited capacity. Managing a knee injury since November, he had not been on the field leading up to the AFC Championship Game and proceeded to see his absence run through the Super Bowl LX bye week.
Fellow defensive captain Robert Spillane would be the lone sidelined member of head coach Mike Vrabel’s 53-man roster. And elsewhere, running back Terrell Jennings’ 21-day window to return from injured reserve officially closed without his activation.
Here’s the fourth injury report leading up to Sunday’s 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Levi’s Stadium.
DID NOT PARTICIPATE
Patriots
- LB Robert Spillane (ankle)
Seahawks
- No players listed
The AFC Championship Game spanned 13 defensive snaps for Spillane before an ankle injury sent him to the blue medical tent and ultimately the locker room. He was announced as questionable to return, yet watched the remainder of the 10-7 win at Mile High from the sideline. New England’s green dot had finished the regular season atop the team with 97 tackles despite missing the final four games with an ankle injury.
LIMITED PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- OT Thayer Munford Jr. (knee)
- LB Harold Landry III (knee)
Seahawks
- QB Sam Darnold (oblique)
- FB Robbie Ouzts (neck)
- WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (not injury related — rest)
- OT Charles Cross (foot)
- OT Josh Jones (ankle, knee)
- DE Leonard Williams (not injury related — rest)
- LB Demarcus Lawrence (not injury related — rest)
- S Nick Emmanwori (ankle)
In 15 games, Landry led the Patriots with 8.5 sacks and 19 quarterback hits during the regular season. The veteran edge defender went on to play 26 downs in the wild card and 11 downs in the divisional round before being ruled out for the AFC title game. He joined Munford as a partial participant on Wednesday. The oft-reporting sixth offensive lineman missed time during the Super Bowl bye week due to an illness in addition to a knee injury of his own.
FULL PARTICIPATION
Patriots
- QB Drake Maye (right shoulder)
- DT Joshua Farmer (hamstring — IR return)
Seahawks
- FB Brady Russell (hand)
- WR Jake Bobo (hand)
- TE Eric Saubert (hamstring)
- LB Ernest Jones (chest)
- LB Drake Thomas (shoulder)
- S Julian Love (shoulder)
An injury to Maye’s throwing shoulder kept him limited last week. And an illness also kept him from suiting up for the final practice back in Foxborough before the sendoff. But the 23-year-old Patriots quarterback officially graduated to full participation during Wednesday’s session at Stanford Stadium. Across the line of scrimmage, Farmer remained unrestricted. The rookie defensive tackle, who went on injured reserve in December because of a hamstring injury, had his 21-day practice window open in January.
