The defender has joined on loan but the deal can be made permanent.
Barcelona have signed Patricio Pacifico in the January transfer window, one of several youngsters brought in to boost Juliano Belletti’s side.
Pacifico has arrived on loan from Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting, with his agent Germán Krasouki revealing how the move can be made permanent.
“If he plays ten games from 30 minutes, there is the obligation to buy fifty per cent of the rights for what was left in the contract,” he told ‘Las Voces del Fútbol’.
“Barça has told us that there is an intention to make that clause effective, whether or not he plays the games.”
Krasouki also revealed that Barcelona had been following Pacifico for a long time and that Ronald Araujo had been in touch when he heard about the transfer.
“Araujo contacted Patricio to help him with everything possible. Ronald is tangible proof that success is possible at Barça, and we will try to follow that path,” he aded.
“The club has been following him since he was 17 years old when he played for Uruguay. And in the last six months they have followed him very closely until the decision was made.
“I think Patricio has convinced them because of the serenity he shows from the back of the game. He never panics and that is the essence of Barça’s philosophy.”
