This is how Kentucky Basketball is supposed to look.
That was fun. This team is fun.
Otega Oweh matched his season high with 24 points, and Brandon Garrison — yes, Brandon Garrison — had a career night as Kentucky Basketball crushed the Oklahoma Sooners in a 94-78 win Wednesday night at Rupp Arena.
Suddenly, the Wildcats look like how their offense should look with Mark Pope as their head coach. The Wildcats shot 50% from the floor and 12-26 from 3-point range.
This is how it is supposed to look. Kentucky has won seven of eight and 11 of 14.
First Half
Kentucky was making it rain in the first half, going 9-of-16 from three-point range. Collin Chandler made three, and he was so hot that he almost heaved in a one-handed 80-foot shot at the first half buzzer. It hit the front of the rim.
Five Kentucky players had at least six points, with Chandler leading the Wildcats with nine points. The Wildcats made 14 shots in the first half and had assists on 11 of them.
One thing that surprised me was having Collin Chandler guard Derion Reid. It was clearly a mismatch. Reid was the Sooners’ fourth-leading scorer coming into Wednesday night, but he had his way with Chandler early on, getting to the rim for easy buckets.
But the Wildcats’ defense stiffened down the stretch, holding the Sooners without a field goal for over five minutes to end the first half.
Second Half
The Wildcats kept their lead in double digits for most of the second half. Things got a little dicey late when the Sooners cut the deficit. After a “quiet” first half, Otega Oweh scored in double figures in the second half, scoring 16 of his 22 points in the last 20 minutes.
But the real standout was Bradon Garrison. He scored 11 points in the second half alone, and he was an efficient 4-5 from the floor and 3-3 from the free-throw line.

Box Score
MVP: Brandon Garrison
Did you ever think you would see Brandon Garrison as the MVP? Wednesday night, though, he was ready to play and make a big impact.
Garrison’s biggest bucket came with 2:41 remaining and an and-1 that put Kentucky up 11 points and thwarted any potential late Sooners rally.
Overall, Garrison had 20 points and 11 rebounds while also dishing out three assists and going 6-6 from the free-throw line.
You just have to feel incredibly happy for him.
