Real Madrid complete latest training session ahead of Valencia clash

Rodrygo is struggling to be fit for the Mestalla

Real Madrid returned to the training ground today at Valdebebas as preparations continued for Sunday night’s La Liga showdown against Valencia at Mestalla. With the season entering a decisive stretch, the squad is sharpening its focus for what promises to be a difficult away test.

The session began out on the pitch with activation and warm-up work before the group split into rondos to build rhythm and intensity. From there, the coaching staff led the players through a series of possession and pressing exercises, finishing the sequences with shots on goal.

After the more physical drills, the team moved into tactical work, continuing to fine-tune the plan for Valencia. Training concluded with a small-sided match to end the morning on a competitive note.

Rodrygo misses training

One of the main concerns from today’s session was Rodrygo’s absence from full team activities. The Brazilian worked indoors as he deals with muscle fatigue, and his availability for Sunday is now in serious doubt.

It’s another frustrating interruption for Rodrygo, who has struggled to find continuity in recent weeks. He only recently returned from a minor issue that kept him out of key Champions League fixtures, and since coming back, he has yet to fully re-establish himself in the starting XI. His minutes have been limited, and he is also facing suspension after being sent off in Europe.

Injury updates: Militão and Bellingham still out

Meanwhile, both Éder Militão and Jude Bellingham remain in their respective recovery processes and are not yet back with the group. Their absences continue to limit Madrid’s options, particularly in attack.

With Vinícius suspended, Bellingham injured, and Rodrygo now questionable, Alvaro Arbeloa could be forced into another reshuffle in the final third. Brahim Díaz and young talent Franco Mastantuono are among the leading candidates to support Kylian Mbappé up front.

Antonio Pintus has reportedly increased the physical workload this week, and Rodrygo’s setback may be a consequence of that added intensity — another reminder of how thin the margins are at this stage of the campaign.
