Retirement plans have already been made by one of the UFC roster’s most unique personalities.

Dana White’s admission that he hoped one particular fighter would lose a 2025 bout got fans buzzing with speculation about who he meant.

White has not always had smooth relationships with every fighter on the roster. That much has been clear over the years.

Some wondered if it might be related to Alex Pereira’s rematch with Magomed Ankalaev, given how much the promotion could benefit from a specific result.

Another name thrown into the mix by fans has raised doubts about whether he will even fight again under the UFC banner.

Bryce Mitchell made his bantamweight debut last July, defeating Said Nurmagomedov to get back in the win column.

Previously a ranked featherweight, he built that status off a five-fight winning streak, which included a victory over Edson Barboza in 2022.

While his only losses have come against top-tier opponents like Ilia Topuria, Josh Emmett, and Jean Silva, Mitchell’s career has had its share of ups and downs.

The defeat to Silva at UFC 314 was already a tough pill to swallow, but it hurt even more given how many fans were against him due to some of his previous controversial remarks.

Speaking on Tim Welch’s Red Hawk Recap podcast, Mitchell answered whether there was a specific fighter he had in mind for his next appearance.

“Not in particular. At this point, I’m just happy to get what I get, you know? I’ll take anything and I just want another fight. Who knows, they might not give me another fight. I don’t know what’s gonna happen. If they don’t give me a fight, I’ll just do blue collar work the rest of my life,” he stated.

Dana White scolded Bryce Mitchell when publicly addressing his controversial comments

There were plenty of people surprised by the strength of White’s response to the remarks Mitchell made on the first episode of his ArkanSanity Podcast.

The fighter’s rant drew heavy criticism, with the UFC president calling it “beyond disgusting” during a press conference held in January 2025.

White did not hold back, labelling Mitchell a “moron”, but he stopped short of handing out any formal punishment.

The 56-year-old businessman said: “It’s free speech. That’s the beautiful thing about this business, for all of you who hate Bryce Mitchell, you get to see him hopefully get his ass whooped on global television.”
