The Colombian is looking more and more of a bargain for FC Bayern
Luis Díaz immediately became a fan favorite at Bayern Munich despite the initial skepticism about his transfer. He can run, he can assist goals, and he can score goals among others. The pick of the bunch was his strike against Union Berlin in November of last year. This won him Sportschau’s Goal of the Year, so here’s what he said.
“I found a very good team, a family, with a very good coach,” Díaz began (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “It’s easy to feel comfortable here. I want to win everything with this team, all tournaments, all competitions. We worked hard and showed that we’re ready for that. We should just keep going with the same attitude. From a personal perspective, I just want to contribute and help the team with many goals and assists.”
If you remember, the goal sequence began when he had to slide down to pick up Josip Stanišić’s errant pass right on the goal line to the right of the Union goal inside the box. The 29-year-old then turned and spun Jannik Haberer on the spot as he (Díaz) was getting up before immediately firing the ball into the top corner at the far post from a seemingly impossible angle. Other goals of the sort were Harry Kane (against Koln in the Pokal) and Thomas Muller (in 2013 away to Hamburg).
The former Liverpool winger is part of one of the most potent attacking units in Europe, alongside Harry Kane and Michael Olise.
