Romero extends worrying Spurs trend with Old Trafford dismissal 🟥

It's shaping up to be another long and difficult afternoon for Tottenham manager Thomas Frank.

His side are in desperate need of points as they struggle in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

That may be too big of an ask in their lunchtime clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford as Tottenham find themselves a player down and a goal down before half-time.

Despite an evenly-matched start to the game, Spurs captain Cristian Romero let his teammates down once again with another needless sending off for a straight red card.

In a challenge with Casemiro, the defender caught the midfielder's ankle with his studs as a result of the follow through.

That is Romero's second red card of the league season, but also his sixth in all competitions since he arrived at Tottenham five years ago.

No player has been sent off in the Premier League more during that period.

Romero also has the joint-most red cards for Spurs in Premier League history (4) alongside former defender Younes Kaboul.

Minutes after the sending off, United fired themselves in front courtesy of a well-worked corner routine, which ended with Bryan Mbeumo finding the net.
