Jarek’s Pre-Tipoff Thoughts:

Nebraska has to arrest this two-game losing skid, or the panic button will be pushed. Gotcha! There is absolutely NO REASON to panic. The Huskers lost those games to 2 current top 10 teams, and both games Nebraska were not at full strength. The Huskers should be back to that now, with Mast over the flu and Frager’s ankle fully healed. Nebraska is a heavy favorite against Rutgers, mainly because Ron Harper and Ace Bailey are now in the NBA.

I know it was painful to actually have to deal with a loss for this Husker team, but to be honest, if Nebraska was going to have flu/injury issues, I would much rather it be now than early March/April. The good news is even with this going on, the Huskers gave themselves a shot to win both games. The compete level in this team is through the roof, and I feel like the rest this week will do them a lot of good.

Rutgers doesn’t possess the talent it did last year, as they don’t have 2 top 5 NBA Lottery picks this time around. Having said that, if the Huskers accidentally sleepwalk through this one on an early Saturday afternoon or look ahead to Purdue in a few days, the Huskers will leave the Sandwich Arena with a bad taste in their mouths. Nebraska doesn’t do that. Nebraska won’t have any trouble today. Score Prediction: Nebraska 84 Rutgers 68
