RC Strasbourg Alsace manager Gary O’Neil has confirmed that club captain Emanuel Emegha has suffered a relapse of his thigh injury.
Dutch international Emegha has been on the sidelines since early December 2025 with a thigh injury, however, he returned to training in mid/late-January and a return – at that point – looked imminent. But then Emegha, who will join Chelsea at the end of the season, suffered a relapse of the injury, as initially reported by L’Équipe.
O’Neil has now confirmed the news, stating that Emegha will now be out for around two months. “It is hard and frustrating for him. He is injured in the same place as last time,” said the former Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers manager.
Aaron Anselmino, meanwhile, who joined on loan from Chelsea late in the transfer window, has been suffering from a minor thigh injury but is expected to be back in training at the end of next week. Naturally, both miss Strasbourg’s game against Le Havre AC on Sunday afternoon.
