I miss football already
With the Super Bowl wrapping up last night, the 2025-2026 football season is officially adjourned. It didn’t play out like we all thought it would, and for the first time since 2014, a new head coach will take up residence in the Lasch Building.
What are some of your highlights from this past season? Lowlights?
On the collegiate level, watching Penn State hoist the Pinstripe Bowl trophy was probably the single best highlight of the year for me. After watching the team stumble and fall, seeing them pick themselves back up and fight on to a winning record was pretty remarkable.
Lowlight had to be that blade of grass. Granted, it seemed like everything was set to break regardless, but I do truly wonder if that blade of grass had been cut just a quarter inch shorter, and if Penn State had actually defeated Oregon. Are we sitting here with another playoff loss, but with James Franklin still at the helm? Or would there still have been a parting of ways.
On the pro level, as a Giants fan, seeing the team actually have some fun with Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo, even while losing, was the first real spark I’d seen from the team in some time.
Also on the pro level, seeing Nabers and Skattebo go down with season-ending injuries, and Dart miss time along the way as well certainly does not portend great things for the longevity of the “fun” the Giants may have with them. Ah well.
In any case, the season is over, and we’re now facing a (absolutely frigid) winter before we get to the Blue-White Game, then the wait until summer camp and football in just under 7 months.
In the meantime, hang out with us here at BSD! We’ve got plenty of wrestling and hockey coverage, with basketball thrown in there, too. Add in spring sports (baseball may actually be decent?), and the Penn State beat goes on.
We Are!
