Biles and Owens have spent the past year living in the Windy City, where the NFL star was playing for the Chicago Bears.
Gymnast Simone Bilesand her husband, Jonathan Owens, have officially quit their home in Chicago and moved back to their lakefront mansion in Texas—after the NFL athlete's contract with the Bears ended with the conclusion of the team's 2025 season.
Biles, 28, and Owens, 30, have spent the past year living in what appears to be a rented property in the Illinois city, where the professional football player has spent the past two years playing with the Bears.
However, during that time, they were also busy completing construction on their enormous lakefront mansion in Spring, TX, just outside of Houston. In November, they revealed that work on the property had finally been completed after more than three years.
The couple, who wed in 2023, will now have ample opportunity to settle into their new digs, with Owens' future in the NFL currently unclear. It is expected that the safety will enter unrestricted free agency ahead of the 2026 season, meaning he will be open to sign with any team that might seek out his skills.
Should he fail to sign with a team during free agency, he will be forced to wait on the sidelines in case a squad should find a spot for him later down the line.
While this leaves Biles and Owens in a state of limbo as far as their future state or city of residence for the upcoming season is concerned, it does afford them plenty of time to enjoy the incredible home that they have built in Texas, where they have been living on and off for the majority of their marriage.
Biles happily documented the couple's final weekend in the Windy City, sharing a host of images on her Instagram Stories in which the duo could be seen enjoying a date night and a trip for ice cream before returning to Texas.
In a series of photos posted to her account, the gymnast revealed a glimpse at her life over the past few weeks, starting with a stint in Texas, during which she documented some of the additional interior work being done to their home.
Sharing an image of a stunning office space that has been outfitted with a huge marble wall slab, built-in shelves, a large desk, and some guest seats, Biles wrote: "The house is coming together."
But it wasn't long before Biles was jetting back to Chicago, where she dropped a hint to fans that she may be ready to make a return to gymnastics—confessing while trying on a new leotard that she was starting to miss the sport, which she has not actively competed in since the 2024 Olympics.
"Got back to Chicago and tried on a leo because why not," she wrote across the image of herself posing in the GK Elite design. "I miss flipping every day."
Another image showed Biles and Owens posing together in front of the same staircase before heading out for an evening on the town, with later posts featuring the couple flashing their matching Audemars Piguet watches, before toasting some cocktails.
In the next photos, Biles documented the couple's departure from Chicago, first sharing an image of her husband standing in their emptied-out rental home, with an empty TV bracket seen on the wall, while packing boxes are seen scattered around the main living area.
But they still found time for one last hurrah in Chicago: a date to get ice cream.
Sharing a photo of herself and Owens cheering their cones, Biles wrote: "Ice cream date before moving back to Houston."
The duo's return to the Lone Star State will mark the first time since their home was completed that they have actually had an opportunity to live there together—with the gymnast spending the past few months jetting between Chicago and Texas while her husband finished out the NFL season.
Luckily, they will have plenty to keep their minds occupied while Owens' NFL future is decided—not least the incredible array of amenities in their newly built dwelling, which sits on the edge of a human-made lake in an exclusive Houston suburb.
In November, when she was showing off the completed property, Biles revealed a glimpse of some of the more spectacular features, admitting that she was most excited about their custom laundry room, which features a washer and dryer for each of them.
"Since Jonathan always wants to do laundry the exact same day as me," Biles wrote in the caption. "Now [there is] one set for each of us."
Among the home's other very unique amenities is a custom-built room for the couple's dogs, which Biles revealed she decked out in the same black-and-white tile that they used on their lakefront swimming pool.
The space features a pet spa area, as well as a built-in area for the dogs' bowls, which was already being put to use by the gymnast.
Biles also shared some insights into the complex process that went into building their dream home, revealing the lengthy timeline that led to the completion of the property.
"Home building requires a lot of patience," she wrote, while sharing a video of herself and Owens that was taken when only the framework of the home had been built.
"Started the design process in 2020 and took a year to complete," she said of the first step they took in their homebuilding journey.
"Approvals took a while from [the] HOA; broke ground in Feb 2022; completed 11/11/25," she added.
Biles noted that their wait for their dream home was made all the more painful by the fact that they had been given a much earlier estimated completion date.
"They lied when they said nine months to build!" she said.
Still, the gold medalist was quick to voice her pride at having finally finished the mansion, writing: "Anyways proud of us. ILYSM @jowens."
Indeed, much has changed in the couple's life since they broke ground on their home—with Biles going on to compete in her third Olympics two years after construction began, which some believe may well have been her final Games appearance.
She and Owens also tied the knot during that time, marrying first in an April 2023 courthouse ceremony in Texas, before going on to host a lavish celebration with their loved ones in Mexico the following month.
Owens also made some major moves in his NFL career. When construction on the property began, he was in his final season with the Houston Texans, before signing with the Green Bay Packers for the 2023 season.
He spent just one year with the Wisconsin-based team before signing a two-year contract with the Bears.
In addition to their new custom mansion, the couple also own another abode in Texas—a Spring, TX, property that Biles purchased in 2020, four years after claiming her first Olympic gold.
That dwelling, which Biles has extensively renovated since moving in five years ago, served as a first marital home for the athlete and her husband, and is where they were understood to be living together while they waited for work on their custom property to be completed.
It is currently unclear whether Biles will take another shot at Olympic glory—having previously revealed to Olympics.com that she has not yet made up her mind about trying out for the 2028 team.
However, she noted that, whenever she chooses to leave gymnastics, she wants to do so on her own terms, rather than being forced to retire at a time that doesn't feel right to her.
"I want it to be my choice when I’m done," she said. "I don’t want the doctors to be like, ‘Hey, you can’t move on.'"
Biles added that, while she hasn't decided whether the 2024 Paris Games were her last, she would be happy to end her career with that performance.
"I’m grateful that if this (Paris) was the end, that I got to choose my ending," she explained.
When asked whether she would return to the sport in the hopes of securing a spot on Team USA for the 2028 Games, Biles conceded that she has left that door open.
"There’s more to it. ... We’ll definitely see," she shared.
