Toni Kroos’ departure from Real Madrid will go down as one of the turning points in the club’s history, for they are still struggling to fill the void left by his departure.
The German midfielder, after all, was not only a legendary player but also an influential leader on and off the field who kept the team focused and feet planted on the ground.
Without his controlling charm in midfield and over the dressing room, the issues at the club have only escalated with every passing month and it remains the club’s goal to find a ‘new Kroos’ come June.
Kroos speaks on Ronaldo
Speaking on his podcast, Einfach mal Luppen (h/t AS), Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos named former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to be the best player he has ever played with.
“The best player I played with was Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Elaborating on why his choice was straightforward and a no-brainer, Kroos said,
“Cristiano scored more goals than the games he played at Real Madrid.”
Finally, the legendary midfielder came out in support of Ronaldo who is currently fighting a lone battle with the Saudi Pro League over financial discrepancies, he said,
“The Saudi league is a strange phenomenon. No one had heard of them before the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, and now they disrespect the man who put them on the world map.”
“If Cristiano leaves tomorrow, this league will lose all its charm. Without Ronaldo, no one would see the Saudi league,” he concluded.
Ronaldo’s standoff with the league is related to his team, Al-Nassr, being provided less financial support compared to their arch-rivals Al-Hilal who recently even signed Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema in a pricey move.
As it stands, no resolution has been reached with the Portuguese legend.
