Lincoln Colby, a 6-foot-8, 195-pound wing, was previously in the class of 2027, but reclassified to be able to join Michigan basketball in 2026
Michigan basketball, winning at unprecedented rates on the court, just picked up a major recruiting victory off it.
The Wolverines landed a commitment Tuesday, Feb. 10, from four-star forward Lincoln Cosby of Monteverde Academy in Monteverde, Florida, per his post on Instagram.
The 6-foot-8, 195-pound wing was previously in the class of 2027, but reclassified earlier this year to become a senior. Cosby is rated the No. 7 player in Florida, No. 14 small forward in the nation and No. 38 overall player in the class of 2026 according to 247 Sports' composite rankings.
Michigan's 2026 class already ranked No. 15, per 47, prior to Cosby's commitment. The decision could give the Wolverines a top-10 class; it includes McDonald's All-American Quinn Costello, four-star guard Joseph Hartmann and three-star wing Malachi Brown.
U-M also has a commitment from international prospect Marcus Moller, who recently stepped away from basketball as he undergoes treatment for testicular cancer. The Wolverines are set to lose a lot of talent next year – Nimari Burnett, Roddy Gayle Jr. and Will Tschetter will all be out of eligibility while Yaxel Lendeborg has said he will leave for the NBA and Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr. could also make the same decision.
Michigan will likely be busy in the portal, but it's also preparing for the future from the high school ranks, adding the largest traditional incoming class in Dusty May's tenure.
