Recap

1st Inning

Newly crowned ACC Pitcher of the Week, Jazzy Francik got her third start of the week. Francik worked around a leadoff walk, keeping Liberty off the board.

In the bottom of the inning, the Seminoles saw Gabby Mike in the circle. Early, Isa Torres had the defense scrambling on a soft hit single on the infield. Mike added Jaysoni Beachum on base by hit by pitch, however, the Liberty defense put up a 0 in the first inning.

3rd Inning

After a 3 up, 3 down inning from Francik, the Seminoles bats looked to push across their first run. A hard hit single from Marin Heller, walk to Beachum, and Shelby McKenzie single mishandled by the defense had ‘Noles at every bag.

Mike rolled a pair of ground balls, keeping the bases loaded, but putting two outs on the board. Now with Hayley Griggs at the plate, the freshman drew a walk to break the scoreless tie.

4th Inning

After causing through the first three innings, Francik saw traffic in the 4th. A walk, followed by a single up the middle had Liberty threatening with no outs. A comebacker to the circle, followed by a ground ball to third, which turned into a double play by Beachum got FSU out of the inning unscathed.

5th Inning

Marlee Gaskell took over for Francik, looking to hold her teams 1-0 lead. Gaskell had help from a clutch defensive play, got herself a strikeout before giving up a single. Luckily, the single did no damage, and Gaskell got out of the inning scoreless.

A one out single from Ashtyn Danley got the ‘Noles first baserunner on of the inning. Liberty went to the bullpen, after Danley’s hit took Mike out of the circle. Out of the bullpen, it was Caitlyn Nesbitt to face the rest of the FSU lineup.

For her first batter, Nesbitt walked Anna Hinde with one out. A single into the outfield from Griggs scored one, and a single from Makenna Sturgis got another run in. The Liberty defense had trouble with the ball, leading to the fourth run of the game.

An error, leading to a walk, put runners in scoring position with two outs. Heller’s third hit of the day knocked in two more runs, making it 6-0 for FSU.

6th Inning

Bella Dimitrijevic became the third Seminole pitcher in the 6th, taking over for Gaskell. The freshman sat down the minimum, leading her team to a possible run rule.

Leading off in the bottom of the inning, McKenzie faced a new pitcher, greeting her with a leadoff moonshot.

Danley kept things going with a single. Angelee Bueno batted for the first time, after becoming the first baseman earlier in the game. On a 3-1 count, Bueno drove a ball into the outfield, scoring Danley and walking off the run rule win.
