Stade Rennais approach their toughest test in the Ligue 1 season in a state of disarray. The 3-1 loss to a 10-man RC Lens on Saturday was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Habib Beye, who was relieved of his duties as manager on Monday.
The former Red Star manager had already been under considerable pressure after a run of four defeats, one of which saw Rennes crash out of the Coupe de France. And it doesn’t help that Franck Haise has been continually linked with the post at Roazhon Park. Once Beye was sacked, Haise’s arrival seemed an inevitability, especially since he is now on the market, following his exit from OGC Nice back in December.
But the former Lens manager’s arrival may not be imminent. Rennes may have an interim manager in charge when they take on PSG on Friday night. L’Équipe understands that it may be reserve team manager Sébastirn Tambouret who takes charge of that key encounter.
