Gilberto Mora is one of many talents Real Madrid are closely following as the club have found immense success when hunting for hidden gems across the Atlantic.

The 17-year-old midfielder, currently developing at Club Tijuana in Mexico, has become a primary focus for the club’s international scouting network as he prepares for an inevitable move to the European elite.

With a growing list of high-profile suitors across the continent, Mora is expected to make the jump to a top-tier league sooner rather than later.

Gilberto’s agent on his price tag

However, if Real Madrid are to make a move for Gilberto Mora next summer, they will have to dig deep in their pockets, as confirmed by the player’s agent, Rafaela Pimienta.

In a recent interview with The Touchline (h/t Defensa Central), Pimienta has been vocal about protecting the value of her client, notably pointing out historical undervaluation often associated with North American prospects.

“I will do everything I can to sell Gilberto Mora for a very high price,” she said. “It really bothers me that a Brazilian player costs €80 million while a Mexican player only costs €8 million!”

By suggesting that Mora’s value should sit closer to that elite €80 million bracket, Pimienta has issued a clear warning to Florentino Perez and other interested parties that securing the teenager will require a massive financial commitment.

Mora, though, fits perfectly into the transfer philosophy implemented by Perez, which focuses on identifying and securing young prospects with world-class potential before they reach their peak years.

While his primary role is as an attacking midfielder, his versatility and ability to adapt to a central midfield position make him a highly attractive option for the Merengues.

However, despite the intense monitoring by head scout Juni Calafat, the club’s current priority reportedly remains the acquisition of AZ Alkmaar’s Kees Smit, who is seen as the leading candidate to reinforce the midfield next summer.
