HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) – St. Scholastica picks up third straight state title after defeating Teurlings Catholic in the Division II championship.
The Doves held the Rebels scoreless, while scoring two goals – courtesy of Ella McCollum and Molly Montgomery.
“Emotions are very high. We’ve been working since the beginning of the season to get to this point”, says Montgomery, who was awarded the Most Outstanding Player award. “All I ever wanted to do was get the three-peat, especially for the seniors. They deserve it. They taught me everything that I know and I will forever be grateful for everything that they taught me. Their leadership is amazing. It’s like a family. SSA soccer is a family. It’s not just a team.”
“The love and the passion that I have for the school and these players, just to be out here and help guide them is why I’m here”, says head coach Glenn Benjamin. “They put in the work and got what they deserve.”
