Rockford Lutheran captures its third win against Winnebago and a regional crown

The Lutheran Crusaders got a big night from two of their key seniors in a regional championship game against Winnebago.

MARENGO, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Something about playing Winnebago just seems to bring out the best in the Rockford Lutheran Crusaders this season. Lutheran has played three of its best games this season against Winnebago and the Crusaders have won all three of them.

The latest one Friday night was for the 2A Marengo Regional Championship. Lutheran’s dangerous senior duo of Zach VanBlaricom (27pts.) and Mason Keller (25 points) combined to score 52 points.

Winnebago got an outstanding 26-point effort from senior point guard Myles Smith.

Lutheran now advances to the 2A Mendota Sectional next week. The Crusaders will face Big Northern Conference rival Oregon Tuesday at 7p.m. in a semifinal game.
