The De Pere boys hockey team was the winner for January, receiving 11,193 votes. The Bay Port boys swimming team was runner-up with 5,073 votes.

Bay Area Ice Bears hockey
It’s no surprise to see the team in this space again.
Bay Area is going back to the WIAA girls state tournament after a 3-1 win over Lakeshore in a sectional championship.
The Ice Bears enter state hoping to win a second straight championship and the third in four seasons.
They went 6-0 in February, outscoring opponents a combined 28-7.
Bay Port boys wrestling
It was a big month for the Pirates.
They qualified for the D1 team state meet as a wild card after placing runner-up to powerhouse Kaukauna at sectionals.
Bay Port is making a second straight trip to the big stage and the fifth in program history.
It also celebrated two of its wrestlers making a title match at the individual state tournament.
Pirates senior Alois Schlumpf won the 132-pound championship, while sophomore Tucker Athey was runner-up at 175.
Coleman boys wrestling
The Cougars qualified for team state for the 19th time in program history and the sixth time the past seven seasons after a 38-30 win over New London at D2 sectionals.
They have qualified for the title match five times the past six years, which includes four times in D3 and one time in D2.
Denmark boys wrestling
While Coleman has made going to team state almost an annual tradition in the recent past, the Vikings broke through to the big stage for the first time in school history after beating Chilton/Hilbert 39-32 in a D2 sectional final.
De Pere boys hockey
After being voted team of the month for January, it’s impossible to not include the Voyageurs again.
They beat No. 1 seed Neenah 4-2 in a D1 sectional championship to advance to the state tournament for the first time in program history.
De Pere went 5-0 for the month. Along with its win over Neenah, it beat Fond du Lac 6-2 and the Bay Area Storm 4-1 earlier in the tournament.
