The Dallas Cowboys are officially under the NFL salary cap.

The Dallas Cowboys have appeared to be moving a bit differently this offseason.

We all understand that everything about who they are is in wait-and-see-it territory, but the waiting is being accompanied by some seeing so far this offseason. The process that led to Christian Parker, the Javonte Williams deal, and how they are handling the situations with George Pickens and Brandon Aubrey as examples.

Jerry Jones noted during his sit-down with reporters at the combine that the team plans on being more aggressive in free agency. Again, we will believe it when we see it.

But they are moving.

The Cowboys are officially salary cap compliant

It was reported on Wednesday morning that the Cowboys restructured the contracts of both Dak Prescott and Tyler Smith and that as a result they have created $47M in salary cap space. Boom. Flick of then pen.

As noted in the report the Cowboys still have several levers to pull in this regard and CeeDee Lamb’s deal is the most logical well to tap. Prior to this news OverTheCap.com had Dallas at $56.5M negative cap space (the lowest amount of space across the NFL), but as we wrote that sentence the Cowboys restructured Lamb. Boom.

Getting above water is one challenge, but setting up an opportunity to be active in free agency is another. Perhaps the team is going to get more creative than they have in the past.

The Dallas Cowboys are officially salary cap compliant.

As you were.
