The future of Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona has become a major topic of discussion, with growing interest from Saudi Arabia now adding fresh uncertainty to the striker’s situation.

The Polish forward still has an unresolved future at Barcelona, and with his current contract now in its final stages, clubs from several leagues are beginning to monitor developments closely ahead of the summer.

As reported before, the Saudi Pro League is keeping a particularly close eye on Lewandowski’s situation.

The veteran striker fits perfectly into the league’s long-term strategy of attracting globally recognised stars to increase both competitiveness and international visibility.

Moment of truth

The speculation has gained further attention after Saudi League CEO Omar Maghrabi addressed the possibility of signing elite names such as Lewandowski.

While discussing the league’s recruitment approach, Maghrabi made it clear that Saudi Arabia remains focused on bringing world-class players into the competition.

Speaking about the profile of players the league wants to attract, he said, “The program focuses exclusively on attracting elite players.”

The Saudi executive also explained that transfer decisions are ultimately driven by the clubs themselves rather than being imposed centrally by the league.

“The recruitment committee does not determine the names on its own; it depends on the technical criteria of the clubs,” he added.

These comments have intensified speculation surrounding Lewandowski, especially because his profile matches exactly what Saudi clubs are looking for.

Importantly, any Saudi club that decides to seriously pursue the Barcelona striker would have the financial backing necessary to attempt a major deal through the country’s investment structure.

There is competition

At the same time, Saudi Arabia is not alone in monitoring the situation. Reports suggest clubs from Major League Soccer and Italy are also attentive to any possible opening regarding the veteran striker’s future.

Another factor increasing speculation has been the recent presence of Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, in Barcelona.

His visit has naturally fuelled discussions over whether the Polish forward intends to continue at Spotify Camp Nou or begin a new chapter elsewhere.
