France Football, who organise the Ballon d’Or awards, are announcing the nominees for the 2025 edition on Thursday, ahead of the grand ceremony at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on September 22.

The first nominees to be announced in the men’s categories was the Kopa Trophy, which is awarded to the world’s best player aged under 21.

Yildiz, who provided 12 goals and nine assists across 52 appearances for the Old Lady last season, is the only representative from Serie A this year.

He is nominated alongside his former Juventus Next Gen teammate Dean Huijsen, who was sold to AFC Bournemouth at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign and impressed so much with his performances that he earned a big-money move to Real Madrid less than a year later.

The other nominees for the 2025 Kopa Trophy are: Ayyoub Bouaddi of Lille, Pau Cubarsi of Barcelona, Desire Doue of Paris Saint-Germain, Estevao, now at Chelsea, Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly, Rodrigo Mora from Porto, Joao Neves from PSG and last year’s winner, who remains the favourite this year, Lamine Yamal.
